We recently had the opportunity to talk to Carlo from our recruitment team in our Frankfurt office. He gave us exciting insights into his experiences at Berenberg and his passion for recruitment.

What do you love about your job?
I chose a career in recruiting because I am passionate about helping people achieve their professional goals and bringing people together. The opportunity to discover talent and connect them with suitable career opportunities gives me a positive feeling. Additionally, I enjoy the dynamic and diverse range of positions, which allows me to constantly meet new people and learn about different professional topics.

What is it that you love about working for Berenberg?
No day is like the other. I particularly enjoy the variety of tasks and the opportunity to continuously contribute. I greatly appreciate that I can constantly tackle new challenges and find creative solutions. The dynamic work environment and collaboration with colleagues make each day exciting and diverse, which I value highly.

What skills, characteristics or behaviours do you possess that have helped you thrive in your role?
My enthusiasm for communication, service and customer orientation, teamwork, and willingness to try new methods and take on challenges have contributed to my success. These qualities enable me to build strong relationships both within the team and with candidates, achieving desired results. My continuous desire to learn keeps me flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment. Naturally, people are at the center, and building relationships to achieve goals together is essential. These skills allow me to meet the needs of my colleagues and candidates and to find effective, innovative solutions.

What has been your best experience at Berenberg?
There isn't really one best experience, but rather the small things that truly make the experience special. However, to highlight one experience: Particularly noteworthy are the placements that initially had little chance of success but were ultimately successful. The positive feedback from candidates and colleagues – "Thank you very much for the highly competent process; it was fun working with you, and I felt well-informed throughout. It’s a perfect fit for me." – confirms my positive experiences at Berenberg.

What surprised you the most about Berenberg once you started working here?
I greatly value working on an equal footing, as well as the collaborative and appreciative nature of our teamwork. In recruiting, I especially appreciate the sense of "we," and I enjoy celebrating our successful initiatives with my colleagues. We support each other and celebrate our achievements as a team, which makes the work particularly fulfilling.

What has Berenberg done to invest in your professional or personal development?
Berenberg has significantly supported my professional and personal development by allowing me to further develop and apply my strengths. Through targeted support and diverse tasks, I was able to continuously expand my skills. In particular, the regular feedback sessions at Berenberg have provided me with valuable insights. These sessions are strengths-based, meaning they focus on my strengths and how I can further develop them. This positive and constructive approach has enabled me to work specifically on my strengths and address and improve my weaknesses. The feedback sessions are structured to set concrete development goals and regularly review progress, which has helped me continuously work on my professional growth.
