What makes working in Wealth Management at Berenberg special? We spoke with Lena P., Relationship Manager, about her daily work and experiences.

What do you love about your job?
Every day, I speak with people who couldn’t be more different from one another. What unites them is the need for solutions tailored to their unique life circumstances, goals and expectations. That makes my work not only incredibly diverse, but also constantly challenges and sharpens my communication skills. Wealth structuring is about so much more than numbers. At its core, it’s about responsibility, trust, and family or entrepreneurial legacies. Being able to accompany clients on this path and turning long-term vision into financial clarity is something I truly enjoy.

What is it that you love about working for Berenberg?
Berenberg stands for quality. Not just on paper, but in attitude. What I particularly appreciate is how we work across departments as equals, regardless of hierarchy. The extraordinary willingness to help and our strong ‘just do it’ mentality enable us to create solutions for our clients quickly – and often beyond the obvious. It’s an environment where performance is recognised, ideas are heard and people are encouraged to grow.

How has your role at Berenberg evolved since you started here?
My role has evolved significantly from the very beginning – both professionally and personally. I’ve grown alongside my clients and topics and was entrusted with responsibility early on. At the same time, I’ve had the freedom to contribute my own ideas: Whether in client communication, networking or developing new formats for our Berenberg Academy.

What skills, characteristics or behaviours do you possess that have helped you thrive in your role?
Curiosity, clarity and a genuine interest in the person in front of me. In client relationships, what matters is the feeling the other person takes home after the conversation. It’s a people business! Those who listen, think ahead and then act in a clear, transparent and reliable way… they make the difference.

What has Berenberg done to invest in your professional or personal development?
Berenberg supports both my professional and personal development. In addition to numerous offers from our Learn & Development Calendar, the Women’s Network gave me valuable inspiration that I still benefit from today. At the same time, I’ve been able to strengthen my entrepreneurial thinking by taking on responsibility, pushing my own topics and contributing to projects. And on top of all that, I was given the freedom to pursue my part-time Master’s degree – something that’s anything but a given.

Has Berenberg supported you in a particularly special way throughout your time here?
Absolutely. Especially in phases where many things were happening at once, I could always rely on my team and my manager. The trust and flexibility I experienced showed me that Berenberg values me as a person, not just as an employee.
