The Internship program at Berenberg has provided me with an invaluable opportunity to learn and grow in the first professional step of my career. From day one, I was warmly welcomed into a team that prioritised making my experience exceptional. My time in Specialist Sales has equipped me with a wealth of skills and knowledge, as I navigated the ups and downs of the stock market and the role Berenberg plays in client relationships. From presenting my own stock pitches to attending sales briefings, I’ve gained diverse exposure to companies of all sectors and sizes, each experience being a formative part of my hands on internship. This not only deepened my understanding of the financial industry but also highlighted the importance of diversity, inclusion and the value of being a true team player at Berenberg.

I could not recommend Berenberg enough, the firm provides the perfect learning environment and I believe that it would be a great place for anyone to start their career. The colleagues that I have worked with in the UK Investment Banking Team have been incredibly helpful, patient, and proactive in getting me involved in deals, meetings, and training sessions – I believe that this ethos is quite unique to Berenberg, and it has been a privilege to work with and learn from such talented individuals. Additionally, the internship programme is structured so that you are able to gain insights into different areas of the bank, and learn about how Equity Research, Sales and Investment Banking work together. Therefore, I would suggest that anyone who has an interest in the Financial Services sector but doesn’t know which area of the industry is right for them, should apply to the internship programme here at Berenberg.

Berenberg has given me the most comprehensive insight into the world of finance. A team of smart and helpful colleagues, always willing to share their knowledge, made it easy for me to get started - thanks to the trust and friendly welcome I received from the very beginning. The flat hierarchies and direct client contact with successful companies are unique and had an immediate positive impact on my learning curve. I am convinced that this internship offers the best conditions for a successful career in the financial sector.

So far, the experience has been fantastic, offering numerous opportunities to learn about equities, stock pitching, and the UK market. The team has been incredibly welcoming, and it's been great to learn from such a knowledgeable group. I've been involved in various tasks, which have helped me develop new skills. I've particularly enjoyed the weekly pitches, as the team's challenging questions enable me to think critically and test my understanding of companies. I'm also working on a project to back-test some portfolio strategies, for which I have created an Excel-based model from scratch. Discussing my ideas with the team and implementing changes has been a valuable learning experience.
