Following the success of a similar event in Hamburg, on 1st of September 2023, we hosted our inaugural ‘Bring your kids to work’ day at Berenberg’s London Office.
Opening up our world to the talent of the future.
This hugely popular event gave our London employees - with children over the age of 16 - the opportunity to introduce their family to the world of Investment Banking at Berenberg. Our guests were welcomed formally to the day by Laura Janssens, Head of the European Investment Bank. Laura introduced the plan for the day’s events and also shared the story of her own career journey. After Laura's welcoming session the school- and university-age children learned more about Berenberg and how an Investment Bank works, followed by a pizza lunch.
Exploring possibilities through a variety of information sessions.
To give our attendees a taster of all the career possibilities at Berenberg, we held a string of interactive information sessions. From European Research and Sales to Investment Banking and Sales Trading. These sessions were highly engaging and there were plenty of interesting questions to answer from our guests as well as a lot of laughter.
Bringing out the best in people.
To round off the day we handed over to our colleagues currently on the graduate scheme, who delivered ‘The Berenberg Quiz’. This was a fun and interactive session in the style of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire.’ It was amazing to see a room full of school- and university-age children sharing ideas during interesting discussions, having a great time and getting inspired about the possibilities for their futures. And who better to share that with them than our current graduates, who are currently living and breathing the Berenberg experience.
One day can change a future.
We started out as a family business over 430 years ago and the very concept of family is hugely important to us today. Bringing our families into work for the day, as well as giving great insights into what it is parents do every day, can actually prove to inspire the course of our children’s futures, and the many possibilities of a career with Berenberg. Our first ‘Bring your kids to work’ day in the London office was a real success, so we look forward to many more of these events in the future!
